WHY PSYCHOTHERAPY?
Being human can be difficult. It comes with highs and lows, sometimes those highs and lows are frequently alternating, and sometimes they are not alternating enough. We all feel stuck at times, like things need to change, that things are out of control and moving too quickly, and we are exhausted from too much change, or maybe even someone dared to tell us we need to change. If you resonate with any of this, if you are simply looking for some helpful tools and resources to live with a bit more ease or to stay more present, if you want to increase your awareness about your humanness, or just need someone to validate that being human can be a challenge, therapy might be for you.
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
I most often work with adolescents (ages 12 and up), teens and adults struggling with low mood or depression, anxiety and anxiety related disorders, disordered eating, identity exploration and various life transitions. I commit to exploring the intersection of your particular diverse identities to inform our work.
FAMILY + COUPLES THERAPY
I welcome family and couples therapy work with non-traditional and traditional families/ couples and those of many cultural and ethnic backgrounds. My previous family therapy work has included families of many different structures, cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds.
COLLABORATION
I believe in transparency as a therapist which means if at any point in our time working together you want to explore a topic, trauma, or are seeking a therapeutic approach that I am not trained in, I may identify that your needs are outside my scope of practice and therefore may be better supported by a therapist specializing in that particular area. In this case, I will provide referrals for more specialized care, and if appropriate, continue to collaborate with you and a new provider. Additionally, if you have a multidisciplinary team that includes more than a therapist (ex. psychiatrist, group therapist, registered dietician, or physician) I believe my collaboration with your team, with your consent, can assist in providing the most positive treatment outcomes for psychotherapy.
