INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
MY APPROACH
In my work as a therapist, I take a client centered approach understanding that no matter what interventions are used, they must fit each client’s unique personality, strengths, system and needs. With this being said, my favorite work is the time spent building a trusting relationship with each client to ensure each person I encounter feels seen and heard. From there I may approach work with a client from a psychodynamic perspective while also integrating aspects of somatic therapy, mindfulness, Internal Family Systems and dynamic systems theory or from a more brief-treatment (CBT or DBT) model. What does this mean exactly? First and foremost, it means I’ll always be curious, often warm and direct, and now and again I’ll add in a splash of humor. I view therapy as a practice relationship. In our working relationship we may explore what have existed as unconscious thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in past relationships with family, friends, colleagues, and even yourself to understand how they inform your present and future patterns of functioning, thinking, and feeling. I hope to create a space where you feel safe to process the struggles of being human, practice conversations with me as your therapist that seem impossible with others, and to feel out a life as your most essential self.
